AIMS AND SCOPE
Journal of Complementary Therapies in Health (JCTH) is a peer-reviewed Open-access journal, published twice a year, sponsored by the Portuguese Institute of Taiji and Qigong.
JCTH is an interdisciplinary journal focusing on academic research and clinical studies in the field of complementary therapies in health and in integrative medicine. It aims to promote communication and integration of the traditional medicinal systems, complementary medicine, and conventional western medicine.
Topics covered include all aspects of integrative medicine, such as acupuncture and moxibustion, traditional Chinese medicine, Ayurvedic medicine, herbal medicine, homeopathy, nutrition, chiropractic, mind-body medicine such as Taichi and Qigong, meditation, and any other that can be considered a complementary therapy, as well as their integration with conventional medicine.
Article types include, but are not limited to, randomized controlled trials, case series and reports, clinical trial protocols, preclinical and basic science studies, systematic reviews and meta-analyses, papers on methodology and medical history or education, conference proceedings, editorials, commentaries, short reports, book reviews, clinical reviews and letters to the editor.

JCTH is registered in the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and follows the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

JCTH is indexed in the Open Access Infrastructure for Research in Europe (OpenAIRE Explore), in the Directory of Open Access scholarly Resources (ROAD), in Sherpa Romeo, in the Système Universitaire de Documentation (SUDOC), in the Directory of Research Journals Indexing (DRJI), in the Base Nacional de Dados Bibliográficos (PORBASE), and in the Academic Research Index - Research Bible (ResearchBib).
SUBMISSION GUIDE
The editors of JCTH invite authors to submit original papers for consideration.
Papers must not be available online, published, or submitted elsewhere.
All submissions are aknowledged within two weeks and then subjected to peer review.
All articles published are open access according to the definition of the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ). A unique Digital Object Identifier (DOI) will be given and the article will be immediately and permanently free for everyone to read and download under the license of Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license. The authors retains copyright of the published materials.
After the manuscript has been reviewed, the corresponding author will be informed whether it has been accepted for publication, rejected, or requires revision.
The publication fee is 219€ and is only charged if the paper is accepted for publication.
This fee covers all the costs associated with the publication process, plataform maintance, manuscript editing, indexation and registration, and staff.
There are no submission fees.
All accepted manuscripts are subject to editing to conform to the JCTH style, as well as accepted journalistic standards. Authors will be asked to review proofs after copyediting and before publication.
